Mahindra XEV 9S Launched in India: Mahindra on Wednesday, November 27, launched the the long-awaited XEV 9S, launching it at an introductory price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Marketed as “India’s first authentic electric origin 7-seater SUV” with three rows, the model is built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform.

It is priced Rs 1.95 lakh lower than the XEV 9e, despite sharing the same architecture. Test drives will begin on December 5, with bookings opening on January 14, 2026, and deliveries scheduled to start from January 23, 2026, said Chief Executive Officer of the automotive division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and executive director Nalinikanth Gollagunta.

The company claims the XEV 9S incurs a cost of only Rs 1.2 per km and a maintenance cost of 40 paise per kilometre.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Exterior design

The XEV 9S borrows cues from the XEV 9e and the XUV.e8 concept showcased in 2022, adopting a clean visual appeal. Mahindra’s ‘Heartcore’ design philosophy is reflected in its upright stance and sporty proportions.

At the front, it sports a closed grille, connected LED DRLs and triangular LED headlamps that emphasise its electric identity. A long bonnet and muscular arches add to its road presence.

It comes in six colours: Desert Myst, Everest White, Midnight Black, Nebula Blue, Ruby Velvet, and Stealth Black.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Key Specs

The Mahindra XEV 9S comes with 59 & 79 kWh battery packs. It has superfast charging capabilities, which can charge 20%-80% in 20 minutes with a 180 kW DC Charger (79 kWh Battery Pack) and with 140 kW DC charger (59 kWh battery pack). All variants are compatible with fast chargers up to 175kW. A full charge will allow you a range of over 500 km in real-world conditions, the company claims.

It sports a 2,762mm wheelbase and a 205 mm ground clearance (222mm at the battery), it maintains SUV-ready proportions. It also offers a 150-litre frunk and up to 527 litres of cargo space if the with the third row is folded.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Comfort and convenience

In terms of convenience, it strives to combine premium experience and functionality. It sports a coast-to-coast triple-screen setup spanning the dashboard, integrating a digital driver display, central touchscreen and a passenger screen. Two additional displays for the rear, along with BYOD mounting, turn the cabin into an entertainment-focused space. Qualcomm Snapdragon chips support the digital ecosystem

The cabin includes 2nd row sliding seats with a 60:40 split. The third row has a 50:50 split, and the second row offers ventilation, sliding and reclining adjustment and a Lounge Desk on higher trims.

A panoramic skyroof, soft-touch materials and laminated acoustic glass enhance the feeling of openness and reduce external noise. Even the base variants come equipped with sliding and reclining second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and multiple climate modes.

Upper trims come with upgraded features such as a 16-speaker Harman Kardon setup with Dolby Atmos, dual-zone climate control, leatherette seats, multi-colour ambient lighting and an AR-enabled VisionX heads-up display.

The Mahindra XEV 9S comes with an air purifier as well with AQI display.

Mahindra XEV 9S safety features

Safety has been a priority for the XEV 9S. It offers up to seven airbags, including a driver-knee airbag on top trims. Safety tech includes drowsiness detection, an electronic brake booster, electronic parking brake, blind spot detection, TPMS with live pressure readings and all-wheel disc brakes.

ADAS capabilities vary across trims. Pack Two introduces Level 2 ADAS with radar and a vision camera, while Pack Three includes Level 2+ ADAS with five radars and advanced functions like lane centring, emergency steering assist, blind spot detection and cross-traffic alerts. The Secure360 system adds live viewing, video recording and remote communication.
