Kalyani Priyadarshan’s jewels featured 945 diamonds and a 52-carat sapphire

After wooing the French Riviera with a sari look, Aditi Rao Hydari made a striking appearance on the red carpet in a Tony Ward Spring 2025 Couture for the screening of El Ser Querido during the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival.

The flowy green outfit featured a one-shoulder neckline with cosmic swirls and a thigh-high slit, adding the perfect amount of drama to her dazzling look. Allowing the outfit to do all the talking, the Heeramandi actor styled her hair in soft waves and kept her makeup and accessories minimal.

Earlier in the day, Huma Qureshi was also seen giving an an interesting twist to the traditional Banarasi drape.

Her muted mauve silk Banarasi sari came with delicate gold butis scattered across the weave. Instead of the typical Mughal-inspired motifs, Qureshi’s saree had an interesting spread of continuous woven landscape of palm trees and elephant motifs in antique gold zari.  What’s even more fascinating is that each piece involves 150–300+ hours of meticulous handwork.

She further accessoried it with a studded neckpiece and statement earrings by Amrapali and a metallic handbag by Rene Caovilla, a Venetian legacy brand.

This is in stark contrast to her first look on Day 4 where she channelled her inner boss lady vibes with a sharply tailored black power suit by Gabriela Hearst for the Women in Cinema Gala. She walked in style in her Jimmy Choos and diamonds by Lebanon-based brand Raghida Youness Jewelry. Qureshi’s confident look was undoubtedly one of the evening’s standout ensembles.

Before this, the Gangs of Wasseypur actress also slayed in a sharp denim pleated dress by Schiaparelli and paired it with dramatic gold-tinted earrings with dangling “ear” and “dumb-bell” add-ons. Way to go, Qureshi!

Cannes Qureshi posted this goregeous photo on Instagram with the caption ‘Some kind of timeless. Sea Breeze. No Noise.’

Besides Qureshi, Heeramandi actor Aditi Rao Hydari also chose a champagne-beige sequinned saree. The drape appears fluid and lightweight, with delicate all-over embellishment that adds texture and shimmer.

Hydari has paired the sari with a matching sleeveless blouse featuring a clean neckline, keeping the silhouette sleek and fuss-free. Minimal gold jewellery—including a dainty necklace and statement rings—adds warmth without overpowering the look. With neatly centre-parted hair pulled back into a low bun with loose face-framing strands, the overall aesthetic feels polished, graceful, and quietly luxe.

In her earlier look as well, Hydari looked effortlessly stylish in a striking black-and-white halter-neck gown. Keeping the tone minimalist, she accessorised with chic rose gold-tinted earrings and two rings. A neat ponytail by celebrity hairstylist Clotilde Laisne completed her red carpet avatar.

Besides Qureshi and Hydari, many other Indian celebs also slayed the red carpet at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, including Malayalam actor Kalyani Priyadarshan—making striking style statements on Day 4.

From timeless gowns and sharp power suits to handwoven Indian craftsmanship, the French Riviera saw a stylish Indian takeover—blending movie stars, debutantes, and digital creators with ease.

Another debutante making heads turn was Malayalam actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, who brought rich glittery drama in a maroon-and-black strapless gown by the Indian label ITRH.

The gown featured thousands of hand-embellished beads, while her jewellery added an equally striking layer of glamour — a bespoke Kalyan Jewellers creation centred around a 52-carat pear-shaped blue sapphire, complemented by 15 carats of pink morganites and 945 natural diamonds, all set in 14k white gold.

Crafted over 40 days, the statement piece elevated her Cannes debut, making it a confident and memorable first outing on one of fashion’s most-watched global stages.

Representing regional pride on the international platform, three-time National Award-winning filmmaker Aimee Baruah chose to showcase Assamese heritage at Cannes rather than blend into the sea of global couture. Her traditional look stood out not just for its craftsmanship but also for wearing cultural identity unapologetically.

The creator contingent also made its presence felt. Nidhi Kumar brought contemporary red carpet glamour with a sleek, fashion-forward look that felt every bit Cannes-ready, while Disha Madan offered a refreshing nod to Indian craftsmanship in a beautifully handwoven saree that celebrated tradition without feeling dated.

What made the Indian presence especially interesting this year was its range. Not everyone was chasing the same silhouette, sparkle, or Western red-carpet formula. Some chose power dressing, some leaned into heritage, and others embraced classic glamour.
